"Why shouldn't I wear my bicycle helmet on a horse?"
- Equestrian helmets are designed to protect against sharp, blunt and sharp-edge impact, such as horseshoes and fence posts.
- Bicycle helmets are designed to protect against blunt-object impact, such as roads.
- The majority of equestrian brain injuries involve hitting the back of the head, and bicycle helmets have less coverage of the back of the head.
- The harness system on a bicycle helmet isn't designed to hold up to the force of a fall from a horse.

Riding clothes aren't just for the looks, but mainly for safety and comfort. A good boot will protect your feet and will allow you to quickly glide out of the stirrups if needed. A well made helmet will compliment your attire but above all protect your head in case of a fall or kick. Good pants and jackets won't rip easily and you will be happy you got good quality as soon as you go through some branches on your next trail ride. But that doesn't mean your riding clothes need to look boring!
Thunder Bay Feeds offers quality horse clothing and our collection is the biggest in Northwestern Ontario. Is English your style? Whether you want to look perfect for a formal event or just feel comfortable while you are riding in your own fields, we have in stock a full size range of hunt jackets, breeches, blouses, boots and gloves. We also have a good selection of helmets by Troxel and Tipperary in a variety of colors and sizes and protective riding vests by Flex Rider and Tipperary.
If Western is more your style we have a good selection of oilskin coats, jackets and hats by Outback Trading and Western hats, both felt and straw by Bailey for adults and children.
For those cooler days cozy up in a nice fleece or microsuede jacket. We have them in all kinds of colours and sizes, with and without horse prints.
And for all the barn chores, horse training and riding, we offer good quality gloves. Your hands will thank you!
And don't forget....many of our clothes make great gifts!
Come in often, our collection changes frequently.
